RoHS global approaches

The origin of the RoHS regulations worldwide goes back to the EU Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS).

Manufacturers, distributors and importers of electrical appliances must comply with substance restrictions. These relate in most cases to the use of substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBB, and PBDE.

European RoHS was the start quickly followed by similar regulations in other countries, such as Japan, China, Korea and Turkey being introduced.
The research on comparable regulations on an international level requires a lot of time and expertise, but is essential to be able to ensure the prescribed conformity on a permanent basis.
