On its EU Innovation Radar Platform, the European Commission recently recognized iPoint and our project partners, the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, as “Key Innovators” for “Real-time Monitoring LCA Application” within the EU-funded innovation project iCAREPLAST.
We are proud to be recognized as a driving force for innovation, particularly as a women-led Research and Innovation team. Our innovation addresses the needs of current markets and industrial customers by offering a valuable software solution to tackle existing environmental challenges.
The iCAREPLAST project, completed successfully in 2023, addressed cost- and energy-efficient chemical recycling of currently non-recyclable plastics and multi-layered films through processes like pyrolysis and catalytic steps. In the framework of iCAREPLAST project, we developed a monitoring dashboard to assess real-time environmental impacts of iCAREPLAST plastic recycling plant. The aim was to facilitate LCA non-experts in making eco-friendly operational decisions based on environmental impact assessments. The dynamic analytical dashboard, powered by the iPoint Product Sustainability solution, does not only help identify environmental hotspots at different process levels but also supports LCA analysis by enabling integration with various data sources. The analytical tool within the platform enables the comparison of multiple scenarios in addition to interactive visualizations. The automated real-time impact assessment is continuously updated with the latest LCA results and can be integrated into business intelligence tools enabling more comprehensive sustainability analysis.
The recognition of this innovation by the European Commission highlights iPoint's leading role in simplifying LCA automation and underlines the company's commitment to providing compact software solutions for sustainable practices in various industries.
